Nadia knew Sayid from childhood but did not see him again until she was arrested by the Iraqi Republican Guard on suspicion of being connected to a bombing. This was not the first time that she was arrested and tortured but it was the first time she met Sayid again. After two months of captivity, Sayid helped her escape instead of executing her.
